thanks for your interest, here is a little about my back ground in art: went to glenn voc.high school where I studied commerical art,was art club president 1 year and v.p. 2 years. got honorable mention from schollastics, went to work as commerical artist at local department store soon after graduation, had severall entres in ala state fair and won aprox 10 blue ribbons plus many second place ribbons, took mail order art instruction from washington school of fine arts, left bham in 1974 went to work for dr.ann wiggmore and served as her art director at hippocrates health institution untill 1977 , moved to miami beach and had small but profitable portraite business. more wonderlust moved to la california and worked as silkscreen artist,and painted signs on the side,also had a second hand store named "joes hole in the wall'. untill a earth-guake scared me away from calif! took residence in snowflake arizona where i found employment for about 5 years raising wolves and hybird wolves,and did my native american crafts (necklaces,medicine bags,and such) got tired of roughing it ,you know going to town monthly to get water, cow stomachs to feed the wolves,groc etc. moved back to bham got job with city working in green house for holdoculture division of park and rec board,also managing a small art gallery in leeds ala , member of birmingham art assocation. semi retired from the city I now paint an do some freelance art,book illustrations,and im working on a children story writing and illustrating "timothy the wonder mouse"about a little biddy mouse that lives in a barn on mr joes farm with his 18 brothers and sisters, timmy is a daydreamer and gets him into some really funny situations,hope to have this finished and published soon.my hobbies are playing guitar,singing along, fishing,camping out,I am a active member in the church of the reconciller, a multiculture interaccial church here in birmingham ala. the church has a incrediable homeless ministry, feeding well over 100 people daily , with clothes closets, helping with jobs..providing a telephone for homeless persons to use,and providing a program,when the homeless are arrested on charges such as asking for moneyand help,can work off the fines that contribute to keeping them homeless.providing also drug and alchol counciling,and so much more ,what a blessing to be able to help.I know because of my many travels I too was was homeless,(i fell from a latter painting a sign,broke my leg in 3 paces and could not work .pay rent,for over 2 years i was on crutchess) pastor Lawton Higgs of the Reconciller even got together a art show provided my materials and I sold some work, that really helped my self esteem and my finicall wellbeing.Please visit www.thechildrenofabraham.net/see my illustration there.also the reconciller has a site Lawton Higgs, Kevin Higgs,Rachell Martin pastors. thanks for your time joe ceraso pix of twin brother jim and myself,im the one wearing glasses with one of the necklaces i made.
